Message From The Rabbi

It’s going to be a hot and muggy weekend. But it’s a holiday weekend, so enjoy it.

Shabbat begins tonight with candle-lighting at 7:16 p.m. It ends tomorrow with havdalah at 8:17 p.m.

Services tomorrow begin at 9:30 a.m. Kiddush and luncheon follow, sponsored this week by the Kiddush Club. Please join us.

The Shab-bus keeps rollin’ along. If you live in North Bergen, the first run begins at Temple Beth El at 8:45 a.m. If you live in Cliffside Park, you need to be waiting for the van starting around 9:00 a.m. For the Shab-bus to be halachically viable, it’s not allowed to wait for anyone, or to make unscheduled stops of any kind. The second run begins at Beth El at 9:45 a.m.

A belated happy birthday to Josh Levy; happy birthday today to Harriet Taub; Sunday to Lou Israel’s son David, and to Lou’s granddaughter Danielle Israel; and on Wednesday to Marc Chalom.

There’s still a chance to get in on our High Holy Days Greeting Cards program. Check your e-mail for information, or go to our website, www.ticc.org. And the deadline is fast approaching for the Yizkor book insertions. If you need the forms, they’re on the website, or call the office on Monday.

The month of Elul has begun. This is the time we begin to take stock of how we lived our lives. And it’s the perfect time to start adding mitzvot to the plus column. We have two easy ones for you:
Our Bikur Cholim committee needs you. Co-chairs Sue and Al Glick can use your help in visiting those who are ill

And then there’s the mitzvah of feeding the poor; we have a permanent bin in our lobby awaiting your donations of non-perishable food and other items. Please help.

To repeat, candle-lighting is at 7:16 p.m. Shabbat ends tomorrow with havdalah at 8:17 p.m.

We pray that the ceasefire holds in Gaza.

Pray for the safe return of the missing soldiers of Tzahal and the U.S. Armed forces being held in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.

Shabbat Shalom, and a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend from Temple Israel Community Center | Congregation Heichal Yisrael, and Temple Beth El of North Bergen.

Services this Saturday morning at 9:30 AM
